Road closures in place for presidential visit

Commuters should expect delays and closures for the President Trump’s visit to El Paso.

Gates for the campaign rally open at 4 p.m.

Officers closed off several streets near the El Paso County Coliseum Monday morning.

Shelter Place is closed at Paisano, Orchard and Delta. Boone Street and Paisano are closed near the coliseum.

According to Texas Department of Transportation in El Paso, I-10 East at Copia (Juarez Bridge of the Americas Ramp), I-10 West at Raynolds (Juarez Bridge of the Americas Ramp), U.S. 54 South at I-10 Interchange, and U.S. 54 South at I-10 Interchange exit 21 are closed until further notice.

TxDOT recommends people go home at 2 p.m. Monday to avoid traffic.

Fort Bliss said it's releasing soldiers and civilians early at 3 p.m.

Fort Bliss officials posted on its Facebook page Monday that the city of El Paso is planning to close Spur 601 near El Paso International Airport around 4 p.m. to about 8 p.m.

Roads nearby including the Haan overpass and tactical vehicle underpass will be closed as will the Chaffee, MSGT Pena, and Old Ironsides entrance gates, according to Fort Bliss.

Services at William Beaumont Army Medical Center will not be impacted by the closure. The Post Exchange is expected to operate at normal business hours. Visitors can request a pass at the Buffalo Soldier gate.

The Bridge of the Americas remains open but U.S. Customs and Border Protection advises travelers to use the other international border crossings due to traffic closures.
