If you're rushing around town to prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, either to host or travel out of town, there's a major road closure in West El Paso that could affect those plans.

As construction crews advance into new phases of the GO 10 road project, drivers will see more complete closures on Interstate 10.

The Texas Department of Transportation refers to GO 10 as the largest traditionally delivered project ever taken on by the El Paso District. Construction started in April 2015, and is expected to be complete in 2019.

The purpose of GO 10 is to aid traffic flow in the well-known trouble spot between North Mesa Street and Executive Center Boulevard.

While drivers anxiously wait for relief on this corridor of I-10, they have to first get through the pains of construction and closures.

There will be a complete closure for both east and westbound traffic on Interstate 10 at Sunland Park Dr. starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

All traffic will be detoured onto Mesa and this could cause major delays for those driving around Tuesday night or in the early morning hours Wednesday.
