Rhinos host championship celebration
EL PASO, Texas —
The El Paso Rhinos won the Mid-Western regional championship, and now they want to celebrate with the city.
The team will be hosting a celebration on Sunday, April 8 from noon to 2 p.m. at the El Paso Center Ice Arena. The event will be free and is open to the public. Fans who purchased tickets to the Thorne Cup Championship will be able to pick them up during the party. There will also be a silent auction, in which fans can bid on the orange jerseys that the players wore during the season. The winners of the silent auction can pick up their prizes after the final Thorne Cup game.
The Rhinos finished the regular season with a record of 49-1-1. They beat the Oklahoma City Blazers in the Mid-Western championship., winning the best-of-three series two games to none. Their first games in the Thorne Cup will be prelims, on Wednesday, against the Long Beach Bombers; on Thursday, April 12 against Oklahoma City; and on Friday, April 13, against the Utah Outliers. All three games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
The semifinals will be on Saturday, April 14 and the Thorne Cup Championship Game will be played on Sunday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. All games will be played at the El Paso County Coliseum.
