EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — UTEP has announced the broadcast teams for this season’s ESPN+ home men’s and women’s basketball games.
Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will have three home games broadcast on ESPN+ this season.
The men’s game will feature Duke Keith on play-by-play and Leonard Owens with color commentary.
Keith has over 25 years of play-by-play experience on-air and online. He has called UTEP football, men's and women's basketball games for beIN Sports, CBS College Sports, Time Warner Cable SportsNet and ESPN600. Since 2011, he has served as director of creative services for Townsquare Media of El Paso. The former sports director of the popular Buzz Adams Morning Show on 95.5 KLAQ FM, Keith is still a creative contributor to the program. Keith has also worked as public address announcer for the El Paso Patriots soccer club and is the active play-by-play voice of the El Paso Rhinos hockey team.
Owens appeared in 51 games, including 32 starts, for coach Jason Rabedeaux's Miners from 2000-02. The "Rubber Band Man" collected 186 points, 136 rebounds, 103 assists, 35 blocks and 28 steals for the 2000-01 UTEP squad that finished 23-9 and earned an NIT berth. He started his collegiate career at Western Nebraska Community College. Owens currently works for KFOX14 and KDBC CBS4 as a digital sales manager.
The women’s basketball games will feature Colin Deaver on play-by-play and Izabela McCage with color commentary.
Deaver is a sports anchor at a local news TV station. He has also served as a sports reporter for KMTR Newssource 16 in Eugene, Oregon, KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma and KAGS-TV in College Station, Texas. Deaver was the sports director for two years at KAGS-TV. He has extensive experience calling football and basketball games for South Eugene (Oregon) High School on KWVA 88.1 FM.
One of the top players in UTEP women's basketball history, McCage (formerly Izabela Piekarska) rates fourth in the school record book in scoring (1,251 points), seventh in rebounding (651) and second in blocked shots (252). She was a member of the Miners' first NCAA Tournament team during the 2007-08 season. McCage has served as an analyst for UTEP women's basketball on ESPN600. After returning to the UTEP program as a graduate assistant, she still works on campus as an administrative services coordinator. Her husband, Nathan, is a former UTEP football player.
