85th Hyundai Sun Bowl Game teams arrive in El Paso

The Stanford football team arrived Wednesday for the Hyundai Sun Bowl game.

Stanford and Pittsburgh arrived in El Paso for the 85th Annual Hyundai Sun Bowl early Wednesday afternoon.

Both teams were greeted by the Sun Bowl Association, Sun Court and a mariachi and dance performance.

"When we heard we were coming to the Sun Bowl, our guys got really excited because the hospitality is unbelievable," Stanford head coach David Shaw said.

Stanford won the 2016 Sun Bowl against North Carolina. 2018 will be the team's fifth appearance in the Sun Bowl game.

Pittsburgh hasn't played in the Sun Bowl game since 2008, when the team lost to Oregon State. Monday's game will be Pittsburgh's fourth appearance in the Sun Bowl game.

"This will be my first time to El Paso, the city, and also the Sun Bowl itself, so I'm excited. I've had a lot of coaches I know throughout my 30-year career that speak highly as this being one of the best bowls in the country," Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi said.

The teams have several days of events, including trips to boot maker Lucchese, Fort Bliss and a local hospital, before the bowl game.

The game will take place on New Year's Eve at noon and will be broadcast on CBS.
