Kaepernick named Citizen of the Year by GQ

Controversial former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been named GQ magazine's 'Citizen of the Year.'

Kaepernick tweeted that he's honored for the recognition from the magazine.

Editors of GQ say Kaepernick's movement of kneeling during the National Anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality earned the former quarterback the honor.

The former NFL player has filed a grievance against NFL owners saying they colluded to keep him out of the league as a form of retaliation.
