EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Players on the Ysleta High School girl's basketball team surprised an 8-year-old after no one showed up to his birthday party.
"The lady Indians came to the rescue and provided him with a memorable bday experience," a Tweet shoutout from the school's girl's volleyball team on Wednesday read.
The girl's basketball team's Twitter account retweeted the post and said "The girls had a blast! Happy 8th birthday Damian!! #morethansports."
“Our coach noticed there was a kid in the corner who was celebrating his birthday and no one showed up. We all decided to play with him," said one of the girls.
“We gotta show up for others, especially for a little kid, just be there for him," said another basketball player.
“I feel very appreciative of what I have. I’m grateful for what I and my team have accomplished overall. As a captain I like to see were willing to help others," said another player.
