Woman found in possession of meth while visiting inmate at El Paso jail, both charged

    Marie Barron and David Carbajal were charged with trying to take drugs into the El Paso jail annex.

    A woman accused of trying to take drugs into the El Paso jail annex and an inmate were charged on Thursday.

    A spokesperson with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Marie Barron went to the jail to meet with inmate David Carbajal during visitation.

    The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Units was working on an investigation about narcotics being taken into the facility.

    Once inside, Barron was searched by investigators who found about 6 grams of methamphetamines in her possession, the spokesperson said.

    Barron was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

    Carbajal was rebooked on the same charge.
