Men charged with capital murder in shooting victim's death

Shawn Ezal Ramirez, 21; Miguel Angel Ontiveros, 22; Marcos Damian Porras, 23 were taken into custody in connection to Erik Aragon's death.

Three men are facing capital murder charges in the slaying of a 22-year-old man who was found injured and later died.

Shawn Ezal Ramirez, 21, Miguel Angel Ontiveros, 22, Marcos Damian Porras, 23, were taken into custody in connection with Erik Aragon's death.

The 22-year-old was found injured on Nov. 4 behind an AT&T store near Horizon Boulevard and Darrington Road. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation, which was being handled by the Horizon City Police Department.

His family told KFOX14 he was a funny person who always tried to show people how much they meant to him.

They said he will be greatly missed and hopes someone will come forward with information.

“Don’t be scared to come forward with information because we really do need it, to, you know, be able to just be in peace,” said Marina Star Escajeda, the mother of Aragon’s son, “and, to just have a good memory of living instead of this horrible tragedy that happened.”

He leaves behind his 18-month-old son Liam.

On Tuesday the Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshal's Office and Homeland Security worked together to arrest all three, deputies said.

Ramirez and Ontiveros were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility without bail. Porras was booked into the Doña Ana Detention Facility with no bail and his extradition to Texas is pending, deputies said.
