Three Lower Valley roads the get drainage, lighting improvements

Our KFOX14 morning news crew drove the three streets before the sun came up Wednesday morning and noticed the roads are dark.

El Paso city leaders are sharing their plans to make over three Lower Valley roads Wednesday evening.

The project will completely reconstruct the following roads:

  1. Valley View Drive from Yarbrough Drive to Greggerson Street
  2. Tulane Drive from Greggerson Street to Fresno Drive
  3. Princeton Way from Greggerson Street to Tulane Drive

Our KFOX14 morning news crew drove the three streets before the sun came up Wednesday morning and noticed the roads are dark.

With Rio Bravo Middle School and Pasodale Elementary surrounding the roads, the lack of lighting could cause issues for children walking to school in the early hours of the morning.

Crews will put in street lighting, new sidewalks, trees and landscaping, and a new drainage system.

With the area sandwiched between the Playa Drain and Franklin Canal, the new drainage system could benefit the area.

In 2016, KFOX14 reported on a canal overflowing and flooding homes about one mile from the area.

City leaders are inviting the public to talk about the projects face-to-face Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Pasodale Elementary School.
