Teen donates 400 pairs of sneakers to South Central El Paso elementary

An El Paso teen is donating hundreds of pairs of shoes to students at Beall Elementary.

Drew Frank, 13, decided he didn’t want gifts for himself for his bar mitzvah. Instead he asked that his guests make donations.

Drew used those donations to purchase sneakers for Beall Elementary students in South Central El Paso.

“Anybody who knows me, knows how passionate I am about sneakers but I also know that not everybody in our community is not as fortunate as I am,” Drew said. “I came up with the idea to provide other children in El Paso new sneakers who might otherwise not be able to have them.”

Drew said he saw the need at Beall Elementary and decide he would share his love for sneakers with the children there.

Drew collaborated with the Braden Aboud Foundation. He raised more than $30,000 in donations, which he used to buy a pair of Nike sneakers for each of the 400 students at Beall.

“I feel like they’re going to be really happy,” Drew said.
