Teacher arrested by El Paso County Sheriff's Office

KFOX14 obtained the arrest affidavit for a teacher who was arrested this week following an investigation.

Joanna Atilano who teaches at Fabens High School was arrested on suspicion of having an improper relationship with a student, said an El Paso County Sheriff's Office official.

The 38-year-old woman was booked Monday into the El Paso County Detention Facility following an investigation.

Investigators began looking into the allegations of an improper relationship between an educator and student on Jan. 17. at Fabens High School, said a sheriff's official.

Evidence gathered showed that Atilano exposed herself during a video phone call on Facebook Messenger, stated documents.

Documents also indicated that Atilano inappropriately touched the victim.

Fabens ISD Interim Superintend Michele Gonzalez issued the following statement.

"The employee is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The district is working with law enforcement during this investigation."
