UPDATE: 57 Hour TXDOT closure opens ahead of schedule
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) —
I-10 at Sunland Park is now open ahead of schedule, according to a tweet from the Texas Department of Transportation.
The tweet was posted closed to 9 on Sunday evening.
Crews were slated to finish construction until 6 a.m. Monday morning.
I-10 was closed in both directions at the Sunland Park exit.
Sunland Park was also closed between Mesa Hills and Doniphan and the Resler I-10 east flyover ramp .
TXDOT was demolishing bridges as a part of the ongoing Go 10 Project.
Yesterday the closure gave a traffic headache to may west El Paso drivers.
They say the closures are frustrating, but they’ve learned to live with it.
“I work at the Sunland Park casino so I have to go all the way down Mesa just to even get there for work,” Victoria Steward said. “I think it’s going to be crazy but I hope this bridge is worth it.”
