The Sun Bowl Association is looking for a new sponsor for the Annual Sun Bowl Parade after FirstLight Federal Credit Union decided not to renew its contract with the association.

FirstLight Federal Credit Union has sponsored the event for 14 years.

The Sun Bowl Parade takes place every Thanksgiving.

FirstLight Federal Credit Union supplied the monetary funds necessary to put together floats and supply the necessary resources that help make the event possible.

“It’s been a pleasure sponsoring the Sun Bowl Parade for the last 14 years. The Sun Bowl Parade has been an El Paso tradition for over 80 years and working with the Sun Bowl staff to create memorable experiences for the people in our community,” said Karl Murphy, president and CEO of FirstLight Federal Credit Union.

Sun Bowl Association board members and Executive Director Bernie Olivas are currently seeking a new title sponsor.

The Sun Bowl parade started on New Year’s Day in 1936.

The Sun Bowl Association made the switch to a Thanksgiving Day celebration in 1978 and that has been the tradition ever since.
