Severe weather brings hail, rain, strong winds to El Paso

Laura Carrillo captured this photo of hail covering Interstate 10 Friday, Nov. 4, 1016.

A flood advisory is in effect for El Paso and Dona Ana counties until 8 p.m.

Around 6:10 p.m., the National Weather Service allowed the tornado warning for El Paso County to expire.

The westbound lanes on Interstate 10 near Porfirio Diaz shut down around 6:30 because of flooding. El Paso police are asking drivers to take an alternate route.

For most of the morning and early afternoon people dealt with wind gusts, but the weather shifted.

Many El Pasoans began seeing the weather turn severe Friday around 4:30 p.m.

West El Paso saw heady rainfall and drivers along Interstate 10 in downtown El Paso saw hail. At one point, traffic along the interstate was at a standstill.

Around 5:45 p.m., hail pounded far east El Paso. People at the Socorro Activities Center (SAC) for the Franklin High School vs. Americas High School football game had to seek shelter once large hail started hitting the stadium.
