Rep. Veronica Escobar appointed to House Judiciary Committee

U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar was appointed by the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee to serve on the House Judiciary Committee.

“I couldn’t be more honored to have been named to serve on the House Judiciary Committee by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee,” said Escobar, a Democrat from El Paso who represent's Texas' 16th Congressional District.

“I stand ready to work under the leadership of Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) to defend our constitution and be a voice for El Paso, the border region and the American people.”

The Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over immigration and border security, admission of refugees, all matters concerning the U.S. Constitution.

Escobar's appointment comes a day after she was named to serve on the prestigious House Armed Services Committee.
