El Paso Fire Department crews are repairing a broken water main in central El Paso Tuesday morning.

A 6 inch pipe broke just before 4 a.m. at Travis Street and Hueco Avenue.

Crews with El Paso Water began working to fix the break.

St. Joseph School at 1300 Lamar St. was not affected by the water outage.

The school is preparing for its Christmas Fair this weekend. A priest at the school says he's concerned.

The break caused a sinkhole along the roadway on Travis Street.

About 20 El Paso Water customers in the area are affected by the water main break, according to the utility's website.

El Paso Water asks the public to avoid the area if possible.

A portion of Travis Street near the Bliss Street intersection is closed to traffic.
