UPDATE: One dead, one seriously injured in overnight crash MLK, Stan Roberts

EPPD on scene of deadly crash in northeast El Paso.


El Paso Police say one person is dead following a crash in northeast El Paso.

It happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Stan Roberts Sr. Ave.

Traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was blocked off in both directions from Stan Roberts to the intersection of Loma Real for several hours.

According to an official release, 59-year-old Bradford Drake of Chaparral, New Mexico, was killed when a car driving south bound on Martin Luther King struck him.

Drake was on the side of the road helping drivers involved in a separate collision involving two other vehicles.

He was taken to University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Police say Sergio Martinez, 37, from Chaparral, New Mexico, who was involved in the first collision, was also outside his vehicle when he was hit by the same car.

Martinez suffered serious injuries and was transported to William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

There is no word yet on his condition.

Police say 33-year-old Jennette Clayton of El Paso was driving the car that struck both men.

STI is continuing its investigation.
