The Las Cruces Police Department has identified the man accused of stealing several PS4 games from a GameStop store while another man was committing an armed robbery at the store on Tuesday morning.

Police said 21-year-old Ivan Garcia is the man suspected of taking advantage of the situation when the armed robbery was underway.

Officers were called out to the store, located at 1455 Hickory Loop, around 10:30 a.m. and learned that a masked man entered the store with a black handgun and demanded a PlayStation 4 and several games, according to Dan Trujillo, the spokesman for the Las Cruces Police Department.

While the first suspect was demanding the device and games from the employee, Garcia entered the store and took several PS4 games without paying for them.

Police said several people on social media recognized Garcia and called police. Garcia contacted police and admitted that he was involved in the shoplifting of four PS4 games and said he does not know the armed robber suspect and that he was not involved in that crime.

A PS4 console and more than 60 PS4 games were stolen.

    Garcia was charged with shoplifting.

Police are still looking to identify the other suspect.

He is described as about 6 feet tall and weighing more than 200 pounds. He was seen wearing a black mask, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who has information that helps identify the other suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
