Police: Gang Unit investigating drive-by shooting that injured 21-year-old woman
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) —
A 21-year-old woman was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting in Central El Paso Sunday night, a witness said.
Police said it appears a group of people drove by a home on the 3800 block of Hayes Avenue near Dyer Street and fired a gun at several people who were outside.
The 21-year-old was shot multiple times and taken to University Medical Center.
KFOX14 spoke with a man who said he witnessed the shooting. The man, who didn’t want to be identified, said there were about 10 people at a party where the shooting took place, but he said he doesn’t know the gunman’s identity.
"(A vehicle) came to a stop and (someone) started shooting at us and they just drove off. It was like wow. To me, it seemed like it was pointless. They shot that girl, and I don't think she had nothing to do with it,” the man said.
The witness said the victim was in critical condition at the hospital.
Police said because the victim’s condition worsened, Crimes Against Persons Unit was asked to assist in the investigation.
No arrests have been made.
