Part of Border West Expressway will close for a month.

Part of the Border West Expressway will close on Monday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will last for a month.

Several road closures scheduled for Monday night will affect people’s commute into Tuesday.

Santa Fe Street and Loop 375 will be closed for the Border Expressway construction project beginning at 9 p.m.

The closure will extend to Calleros Court and will coincide with the streetcar project on Santa Fe.

The Texas Department of Transportation originally had this closure scheduled for Feb. 20 but delayed it for a couple of weeks.

Some people who travel from to and from Juarez are a little frustrated since the closure is near the Paso Del Norte bridge.

“Well actually it's going to affect some of the people from Juarez,” said Adan Quiroz who lives in downtown El Paso. “Some people coming from over there who come all the way to downtown they'll have to take another road over there on I-10 and it's going be far away for them. Plus they have a lot of other construction here in downtown by Kansas and other streets, all of this is just a hassle."

The Texas Department of Transportation said people will now have to travel through downtown on Mesa, Oregon or Stanton streets to access Interstate 10.

The area will reopen at 5 a.m. This closure is expected to last until April 6.
