EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Seniors in El Paso will be getting a little extra seasonal cheer this holiday.
Thanks to the Be a Santa to a Senior program, community members will get a gift this Christmas.
The initiative connects seniors, who place their Christmas wish on a tree, with community members.
“We try to find seniors that don’t have anyone. And unfortunately, there’s a lot. Not just El Paso, but everywhere. I mean the largest demographic in America is over 65. We’ve never had that in our history. So when it comes time for holidays there’s people who really need a little connection,” Samuel Patton, owner of Home Instead.
The trees are up at the Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies Mesa location and the Village Inn at Mesa and Balboa.
Donators can participate by visiting a tree and choosing an ornament to fulfill a gift request for a senior.
The trees will be up until December 15.
Monetary donations are also accepted with 100 percent of the funds going to buying requested items.
