Dona Ana Community College has opened a food pantry to help its students fight hunger.

The pantry, called Comfort Casita, is located at the DACC Espina Campus inside Alex Sanchez Hall.

It is open on Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from noon to 3 p.m. The pantry is part of the Together We End Hunger campaign designed to help students with food needs.

Students are able to get food items, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene items. Funding for the pantry comes from a $60,000 grant from the New Mexico Higher Education Department.

A 2020 survey conducted by the University of New Mexico found that 42% of undergraduates were food insecure.

Students, faculty and staff are able to visit Comfort Casita twice a week.
