Man screaming near middle school prompts 'lockout,' police say

Police said after 7 a.m. Friday, a person caused a disturbance, affecting the start of the school day at a middle school in northeast El Paso.

As a precaution, Nolan Richardson Middle School was placed on a lockout around 8 a.m.

A man armed with an "object" at a home in the 11300 block Loma Linda was screaming outside, police spokesman Darel Petry said.

When police arrived, the man was making threats from the balcony of the home, which is located across the school campus, police said.

The school lockout was lifted around 8:20 a.m.

Police said nobody was injured.

The suspect was taken into custody for a medical evaluation, Petry said.
