EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A man and a woman in their 20s were killed in a motorcycle crash on Loop 375 west at Park Street Thursday night, the El Paso Police Department announced Friday.
A 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from east El Paso were riding on a 2008 Yamaha, R6 white and black motorcycle when they lost control at a curve around 8:46 p.m.
The couple struck a concrete barrier and a light pole. As a result, both the 23-year-old passenger and the 25-year-old driver were thrown from the motorcycle.
The passenger landed in the middle of the right lane of traffic.
Another motorcycle driver, identified by police as a 23-year-old man from Horizon City, was traveling in that lane on a red and white 2022 Yamaha R7 and hit the passenger, police said.
The 23-year-old hit the ground and was taken to the hospital for injuries.
The man and woman on the first motorcycle died at the scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests that speed was a factor in the crash, police said.
Investigators do not think the 25-year-old man was wearing a helmet.
This is the 27th and 28th traffic fatality of the year compared to 29 at this date last year.
