EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — The man who police believe was involved in the deadly shooting of a store clerk in far east El Paso had previous criminal history.
A store clerk at a 7-Eleven on Zaragoza Road and Sun Fire Boulevard was found dead on Wednesday morning.
Officers conducted a welfare check around 5:30 a.m. after someone called saying the clerk wasn’t anywhere to be found.
Police said they believe 24-year-old Sharod Chavez Moore shot and killed 25-year-old Arbin Iglesias during an apparent robbery in which Moore also stole Iglesias' truck.
The Texas Department of Public Safety found Moore in Junction, Texas. The department said Moore began shooting at troopers and started a pursuit.
DPS said Moore was found dead from a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said Moore robbed a gun from a security guard at the Sun Metro Center on Tuesday night, and they believe the same weapon was used on Wednesday.
Moore had two previous criminal incidents.
He was indicted in 2014 for an aggravated assault offense in 2013, in which he allegedly stabbed another person.
Moore was also charged with assault causing bodily injury in Sept. 2018, for allegedly punching another person, kicking him and throwing him to the ground.
