Man accused of stealing unattended car from Lower Valley home

    Manuel Cardona

A man accused of taking a car while it was running at the victim’s home last week is facing charges of robbery.

On Friday, a Honda Accord was left running with the door open at a home along the 8200 block of Troy Avenue in El Paso’s Lower Valley.

El Paso police said 31-year-old Manuel Cardona was spotted by the vehicle’s owner taking off from the driveway in their car.

Cardona was followed by the victim and another neighbor, said police.

They said Cardona assaulted the victim when he confronted him.

Cardona was arrested by police who arrived at the scene.

He was booked for robbery under a $20,000 bond.

In El Paso, it’s against the law to leave your car running. Violators can be cited, according to El Paso.
