EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — A local non-profit, Moms on Board, is providing curbside child care at early voting locations to help parents.
“If you’re a mom and you’re discouraged by voting and you don’t want your kid to be running around and punching the ballot, we keep your kiddo busy,” cofounder Adrianne Moody said.
Moms on Board is a non-partisan non-profit which works with city leaders to bring family-friendly amenities to El Paso.
Volunteers with the organization watched children outside the Dorris Van Doren Public Library Friday afternoon.
“We’ve got snacks. We have finger puppets, crowns and coloring sheets to keep them busy so you can concentrate on the ballot,” Moody said.
Alison Westermann left her daughter with the volunteers while she voted.
“My daughters had the flu all week and I was worried that I wasn’t going to get to early vote,” Westermann said. “I know that I can take my time voting.”
The volunteers will be back at the Doris Van Doreen Library Monday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. to continue helping parents.
