LCPD officers focusing on drunken drivers during April checkpoints
LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
The Las Cruces Police Department will be setting up four sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of April.
Officers will primarily be on the lookout for drunken drivers, but they will also be keeping their eyes peeled for people using their cellphones while driving, as well as people who aren’t using their seat belts. In addition, they will be watching for child safety seats that aren’t strapped in properly.
The Las Cruces Police Department is reminding everyone who plans on drinking alcohol and needs transportation, to designate a driver who hasn’t been drinking.
It is unknown when or where the checkpoints will be set up, other than that there will be four in Las Cruces during the month of April.
