The driver involved in a rollover crash in January has died from his injuries, according to El Paso police.

Police say they were notified Friday about Angel Barrio’s death.

The 67-year-old from Las Cruces was driving southbound along Martin Luther King Blvd. in northeast El Paso on Jan. 23 around 7 a.m.

Police said Barrio lost control of his pickup truck when he swerved to avoid a head-on collision.

The driver of a silver-colored vehicle was driving northbound on the same stretch of road, but moved over to the southbound lane to pass another vehicle, said police.

Barrio’s truck overturned as a result, said police.

Police investigators said the driver of the silver vehicle did not stop.

Barrio was taken to University Medical Center.

Barrio was an officer for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the El Paso Field Office.

He was with the agency since 2001 and assigned to the El Paso port of entry.

"We ask that you keep CBPO Barrio, his family, friends and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers," said CBP spokesman Roger Maier.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of the silver vehicle.
