Imagine your whole family testing positive for COVID-19. That’s exactly what happened to Daisy Lozoya and her family in Las Cruces.

This family of eight has all finally tested negative but say the experience as a whole has changed their lives forever.

“The news that we all had COVID was just really heartbreaking,” Lozoya said.

Lozoya was the first member of her family to start feeling sick.

“I had got a dry cough and I lost my taste and smell. So, I went to the doctor’s office where I got tested and then it came out positive,” Lozoya said.

That positive test, led to her entire family testing positive, including her 6-month-old baby girl.

“I want to spend my life with her and watch her grow, and I wouldn’t like to lose her to any sickness or anything like that. It was heartbreaking,” Lozoya said.

Thankfully, none of them had to be hospitalized and recovered well. They say they owe it to God for keeping them safe.

“He didn’t allow us to fall. We always confided in God, remained confident in God. We remained positive and we believed we were going to come out of this,” Lozoya’s mother-in-law, Carolina Escobar said.

Now, they’re asking others to take this pandemic seriously.

"Now I’m just asking people to be conscious,” Escobar said. “I was one of those that didn’t believe. I was one of those that said nothing was going to happen, and look at us now. It affected us,” Escobar said.

They said if being diagnosed with the coronavirus taught them anything, it’s to not take life for granted.

“Always value your loved ones. Always love them and cherish them. Because you never know what can happen,” Lozoya said.

The family said they decided to share their story to let others who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 know they’re not alone.
