The famous Khalid was in El Paso Monday morning spreading holiday cheer among school children.

“To see the smiles on their faces is something I will carry with me everywhere I go,” singer-songwriter Khalid said.

The big surprise was revealed when the curtains were pulled up and students saw who was there.

“I was really excited. He’s an inspiration to me. Someone from such a small town can have a big impact on the world,” fifth-grader Anissa Nevarez said.

He, along with his mother Linda Wolfe, passed out gifts to students at Crockett Elementary School.

“I love you guys. I love El Paso,” he said with a huge smile on his face.

El Paso Independent School District officials said he bought all the gifts that were delivered to more than 500 students.

“It means the world to be to come back to El Paso and give gifts to the kids,” Khalid said.

“I never thought anyone would ever go that far to make children happy,” Anissa said.

Khalid, 19, graduated from Americas High School before his singing career took off.

Khalid Robinson is known for calling El Paso his home.
