Jailed man charged with burglarizing west El Paso apartments

A 19-year-old man arrested on a burglary charge in November is facing additional charges following two more burglaries at the same apartment complex, police said.

Blas Gutierrez was charged on Friday for a burglary that happened on Nov. 22 after entering an apartment and taking electronic devices, police said.

Police investigators said Wednesday that Gutierrez now has been linked to two other burglaries that occurred at the same apartment complex, Mesa Village Apartments in west El Paso.

They said the most recent burglaries happened the first week of December.

The stolen property taken was found and returned to its owners, police said.

Gutierrez was in jail when police charged him with the latest crimes.

He is now facing two additional charges of burglary of habitation.

His bail was set a $75,000.

An investigation is ongoing.
