UPDATE: Westbound lanes on I-10 near Deming open after semi-truck crash
The New Mexico Department of Transportation said a crash shut down a portion of I-10 in both directions between mile marker 87 westbound and mile marker 85 eastbound.
I-10 westbound is now open; however, I-10 eastbound at mile marker 85 remains closed.
New Mexico State Police confirm a semi-truck carrying produce overturned, spilling a portion of the product on the road.
A second truck has been sent to salvage the rest of the produce.
A spokesperson with NMSP said it will take time to clean up the crash and tow away the semi.
Traffic will be detoured at mile post 85 to NM 549.
Drivers are asked to use caution and expect delays.
The crash is currently under investigation.
