Girlfriend of teen who died in drunken driving crash on Labor Day has been charged

    Police have arrested a woman who was involved in an alleged drunken driven crash in northeast El Paso, where her boyfriend died on Labor Day.

    Police arrested 18-year-old Nancy Huerta on Wednesday and is being charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

    Police said Huerta’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Aron Jurado of Chaparral, was in the back seat of the car when Huerta, was speeding on Railroad Drive around midnight.

    Police said Huerta was under the influence of alcohol, swerved to avoid traffic and ended up hitting the curb, which caused the car to roll several times.

    Police report said that Juardo was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car and rushed to the hospital, where he died.

    There were six people inside the vehicle when the crash happened. Only Jurado died. The other received injuries.

    Huerta is being held at the El Paso County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
