EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The funeral services for Guillermo ‘Memo’ Garcia have been arranged.
His funeral visitation will take place Monday, May 11 at Perches Funeral Home located at 2280 Joe Battle Boulevard from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A rotation of ten people will be applied due to social distancing guidelines.
In his obituary it states Garcia was known as Tank to his friends. It also stated that the last eight months had been tough but he still joked, smiled sang and laugh.
Garcia died April 25 almost nine months after the mass shooting on Aug. 3, 2019 at the Cielo Vista Walmart.
Garcia became the 23rd victim from the shooting.
Memo Garcia and his wife Jessica Garcia were at the Cielo Vista Walmart on Aug. 3 selling lemonade to raise funds for the El Paso Fusion soccer team, on which when of their children played, when the shooting happened.
Memo was shot twice in the leg and once in the back as he tried to shield his children. Jessica was shot three times in both legs.
The couple's 5-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter were also at the Walmart. They were not shot.
Memo and Jessica were taken to Del Sol Medical Center to be treated. Memo was the last remaining patient from the shooting there.
