Free County Spay and Neuter program continues through New Year

EPCSO Free Spay and Neuter Program releases sessions available for county pet parents in January.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s office has kept reducing the overpopulation of animals in their 2018 New Year resolutions.

The office launched a program late last year that helps to neuter or spay dogs and cats, living in the county, for free. Through fall the program spayed and neutered 266 animals; 76 felines and 190 canines.

The program comes from the animal control services contract between Horizon City, Vinton, Socorro, Anthony, Clint, San Elizaro, and the Sheriff’s office.

Animal control officers from the Sheriff's office service not only the county but these surrounding municipalities as well.

The program is a part of a large scale effort to provide more outreach and education to pet owners in the county, prevent back yard breeding or unwanted litters and reduce the amount of stray and feral animals.

If you live in any of the cities mentioned above, you can attend one of the following dates and times to have your dog or cat spayed or neutered for free:

The following is the schedule for January, a.m. sessions begin at 7 a.m and p.m. sessions begin at 2:00 p.m.

It's recommended that you arrive early with a proof of residency which includes a valid I.D. or utility bill.
