Former GISD administrator pleads no contest to sexual assault of minor

Richard Chavez, a former associate superintendent of operations for Gadsden Independent School District, pleaded no contest to four counts of criminal sexual assault of a minor

Richard Chavez, a former associate superintendent of operations for Gadsden Independent School District, pleaded no contest to four counts of criminal sexual assault of a minor Wednesday.

Chavez was arrested in April 2016. Court documents at that time stated Chavez molested a girl under the age of 12 from June 2014 to March 31, 2016.

Chavez’s sentencing is scheduled for March 4. He will serve a minimum of six years up to a maximum of 12 years
