Father, son arrested in murder case of man found in desert in 2016

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX) - A father and son were arrested on suspicion of the murder of Devon Leatherbury, whose body was found in the desert in Northeast El Paso in 2016.

Thursday, officers arrested Richard Zelonis, 55, and Aaron Anthony Zelonis, 27, in connection with the murder.

Leatherbury’s body was discovered on the 12700 block of Dyer Street near the Texas-New Mexico state line on Aug. 16, 2016.

An autopsy report showed that Leatherbury had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Richard was booked on a $750,000 bail. His son was jailed on a $1 million bail.

Aaron was also a charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child when he was 16, according to online records.
