With less than a day before the annual Hyundai Sun Bowl, fans say they are ready to cheer for their favorite teams.

"Let's fill up that stadium! Let's show America what El Paso is all about,” said Bernie Olivas, executive director of the Sun Bowl Association.

On Friday, NC State and Arizona State will battle at the 84th annual Hyundai Sun Bowl, which will air at 1 p.m. on our sister station CBS4 Local.

Leading up to the game, NC State and Arizona State fans took some time to experience El Paso.

“We went hiking in the mountains,” said Eric Carlson, who is rooting for ASU. “We love the hospitality. El Paso is a great city.”

On Thursday, fans were treated to the annual Sun Bowl Fan Fiesta in downtown El Paso, where they were invited to play games, dance and watch the battle of the college bands.

Some fans haven’t decided on who will emerge as the winner of the Hyundai Sun Bowl.

“I’m not placing any bets, but I think there’s some awesome players and great strategies on both sides,” said Erika Hanchey.

But others, especially Arizona State fans, are there to experience history.

“I just want to be here to watch Coach Todd Graham’s last game,” Carlson said. “He’s been a great coach, so we wanted to make sure that we send him off. No Matter what happens tomorrow, we’ll stay till the end to give him his standing ovation he deserves.”

According to the Sun Bowl Association, more than 40,000 tickets have been sold so far, but there are still some available.

Fans can purchase their tickets Friday at the stadium’s box office beginning at 9 a.m.

Free parking will be available in areas around the parking garage on Schuster Avenue. Click here for parking information.
