EPISD to discuss Special Education Department's recent success

A presentation that EPISD leaders will look over Thursday morning says the special education population has increased every year since 2015, and is seeing great success right now.

El Paso ISD board members are set to discuss the district’s special education program and its recent success.

A presentation that EPISD leaders will look over Thursday morning says the special education population has increased every year since 2015, and is seeing great success right now.

The presentation shows the Texas Assessment passing rates have increased this last school year in every single subject, except for English, which only saw a decrease of .2 percent.

The district says it's currently personalizing each students learning, and creating a culture of approach-ability, productive communication, and respect.

Alejandro Ramirez is an EPISD alum and when thinking of his experience with the special education department he says, “We all got along pretty amicably.”

When talking about students deserving more funding, Ramirez says “I think everyone deserves that opportunity, especially if they do well, you know, maybe give them a little more.”

EPISD leaders are expected to discuss the program’s success at 11:30 a.m.
