El Paso Fire crews were on scene of an east El Paso fire at the corner of Fourney and Pebble Hills.

Police said the kitchen fire started at 1080 Pebble Hills at Los Tres Gallegos Mexican restaurant.

Officials were alerted by a smoke alarm from inside the restaurant.

El Paso Fire says no one was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Claudia Hernandez works across the street from the restaurant.

She said she thought the whole building would catch on fire.

“I saw a big fire coming out of the windows and smoke everywhere. There were lots of firetrucks as well,” said Hernandez.

Yolanda Ruiz is a close friend of the owners. She said it’s heartbreaking to see what has happened to her friend’s business.

“We have been clients for a long time and I hope they will be back in business soon. I don’t want them to lose hope and continue fighting like they do everyday,” said Ruiz.

Sylvia Martinez was one of the many frequent customers turned away today due to the closure.

“We come here often and we really enjoy their food. It’s like homemade. There’s a lot of regular who come daily,” said Martinez.

The owners tell KFOX14 they hope to open their doors within two weeks.

“We are going to be looking to see when they open. We live not too far from here so we are going to keep checking,” said Martinez.

El Paso Fire said the damages are estimated to cost around $100,000.

The owners tell KFOX14 if customers still want to purchase food, they can do so at the following two locations:

Los Tres Gallegos
8033 Alameda Avenue

Los Tres Gallegos
1475 George Dieter Dr.
