El Pasoans give their views on highway expansion projects
EL PASO, Texas —
TX DOT will present its quarterly update to the El Paso City Council at 9 a.m.Monday.
The update will encompass the progress on most of the construction projects throughout the city, including the GO 10 and Border West Expressway projects.
El Paso drivers have already gotten a taste of some of the temporary closures with these projects. Last Saturday, I-10 east and west from Executive Center to Sunland Park was diverted on to Mesa Street to repair El Paso Electric power lines. A previous repair and update of these line happened last November.
Some people KFOX14 spoke with say this progress can be a painstaking one.
"Yeah, it's definitely something they do need. I mean, the traffic just keeps getting worse and worse every time. So, I mean, after they get all (the work) done it's going to be better but it's going to suck for a while," said Pablo Campos.
Chris Benitez says the construction is beneficial for the city's growth.
"I think it's important," Benitez said. "El Paso's growing... I was born and raised here. It's getting a lot bigger and it needs to evolve and stuff. So it's just a normal city."
