EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — El Paso Water is requesting an increase for the 2019-2020 budget and that includes a new rate increase for El Paso Water customers.
The Public Service Board is set to vote on it Wednesday morning.
If approved, the average homeowner’s El Paso Water bill would go from $57.95 to $60.95 per month, a $3 increase.
That’s because El Paso Water is asking for a 4 percent increase in water rates and an 8 percent increase in wastewater rates.
As KFOX14 reported last year, the utility made a $4 a month increase.
Utility President John Balliew told KFOX14 last month that the increase would help improve existing pipelines, wastewater facilities, and help control odor.
Balliew also said that El Paso has a core that was built in a post World War II boom and all of that infrastructure needs to be replaced.
The board is expected to vote at 8 a.m. Wednesday and if approved, the potential increase would go into effect this March.
