An El Paso veteran and political activist was found dead in Ciudad Juarez, according to his family.

Jose Margaro Gonzalez, 70, went missing March 4.

On Tuesday, Gonzalez’s niece said the family received DNA results from a body found in Juarez four days after her uncle went missing.

“They are positive, he is gone,” she said.

At the time he disappeared, his family members were concerned because they said Gonzalez wouldn’t leave without saying anything. Gonzalez had some medical issues and required insulin daily for diabetes but those close to him said none of his conditions would cause him to wander off.

Police also issued a press release, stating Gonzalez may be endangered.

The family held a press conference asking for the public's help in his disappearance.

Some of his belongings were found in Juarez, according to family members.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.
