El Paso man accused of strangling pets
An El Paso man is accused of killing his family's pets.
El Paso police were a called out to a home in in the 3800 block Tierra Aurora following reports of a family dispute.
Police spoke with Jacob Rodriguez's father and learned Jacob Rodriguez had harmed their dogs.
The father told police he suspected his son was under the influence of drugs.
He told police that when he got home, he found his 27-year-old son staring at a dog, a heeler mix, and then saw him begin to stomp and choke him.
He said he was able to take the dog from his son and call police.
Police investigating the incident found a dead pit bull mix on the living room floor with a pair of jeans around its neck, said police officials.
Inside Rodriguez’s bedroom, the heeler mix was found dead with a bedsheet tied around its neck.
Rodriguez was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
He was charged with cruelty to animals and his bond was set at $20,000.
