The El Paso region will be showcased at South by Southwest (SXSW) this year in Austin next week.

El Paso’s exhibition is called “Two Cities, Two States, One Region.”

The city of El Paso, El Paso County, city of Las Cruces, Borderplex Alliance and Destination El Paso will be participating in the 2018 SXSW Trade Show that takes place March 11-14.

The trade show is the largest exhibition at SXSW where businesses, companies and cities come together to gain exposure.

In 2017, representative from El Paso talked to 17,000 people and distributed 5,000 brochures about the city during the four-day exhibition, said Veronica Castro, spokesperson for Destination El Paso.

The University of Texas at El Paso, New Mexico State University and six regional startup companies will also head to Austin to showcase strengths, talents and their importance to the region’s economy.

Destination El Paso will also partner with Texas Monthly to host a reception on March 12 at 6 p.m. State officials, state and national regional planners, and business executives will be present and will learn about the opportunity and economic growth present in the El Paso region.

Something unique happening during SXSW that will give El Paso exposure, is the unveiling of 10 pedicabs featuring the Sun City. The pedicabs will travel throughout Austin with images of the Wyler Aerial Tramway, the Amigo Man, and cityscapes of El Paso and Las Cruces on them.

In 2017, the El Paso pedicabs gave the city tons of exposure at SXSW, Castro said.

“El Paso made an impact last year, and we are certain that we will have a bigger presence at this year’s event. We believe that bringing together these partners will only further our mission to promote two states, two cities, one region as a great destination,” said Bryan Crow, general manager for Destination El Paso.
