El Paso police investigate third murder of the year

Deadly shooting in northeast El Paso

Crime scene investigators continue to investigate an early morning shooting that left one person dead.

Red tape blocks the entrance of the NNCDO Housing Complex.

Police said they received a call about shots fired after 3 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they found a man dead in the parking lot in the 5200 block of Wren Avenue in northeast El Paso, near Irvin High School.

Residents and neighbors, none of whom wanted to be on camera, said people are not allowed in and out of the residential area as the investigation continues.

El Paso police spokesman Darrel Petry said more updates on what happened are still to come.

"This will be investigated as a third murder of 2018. Again, as more information becomes available at the identity of the victim, we will share that with you,” said Petry.

Police said they have no information on the man who died or the suspected shooter, which is why they are asking for your help.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling Crimestoppers at 915-566-8477
