EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Daniel Villegas, the El Paso man who was acquitted on the double murder of two teens, plans to sue the Socorro Independent School District after his son was dropped off at a park by a school bus driver.
Villegas posted a video on social media talking about the incident.
Villegas said his 6-year-old son was dropped off at a park alone. He said he just moved to the area and said his son was scared.
Villegas alleges that the school district blamed him and his wife and said he would sue the school district.
He asked anyone who has any problems with the school district to let him know to join the lawsuit.
The incident happened on Monday and Villegas posted the video on Tuesday.
Officials with the Socorro ISD said they take full responsibility and admitted that a bus driver did release a student without an adult present.
Marivel Macias the assistant superintendent for administrative services at Socorro ISD said other parents who were in the area and saw the boy scared went up to him and stayed with him until his parents arrived.
She said safety protocols were not followed and said the school district is taking administrative action was needed.
“We truly apologized for what happened to that family and the little one,” said Macias.
