EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Commuters in west El Paso traveling along Interstate 10 and North Mesa Street will have to find alternate routes.
TxDOT officials said there will a closure along I-10 West between Executive Boulevard and Sunland Park Drive beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.
The periodic closure will last until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Road crews will be installing beams for the new Paisano Bridge over I-10, TxDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Wright said.
Then, from 3 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. on Monday, the eastbound lanes along I-10 will be closed off between the North Mesa Exit and the North Mesa Entrance Ramp, Wright said.
This will affect North Mesa Street as well. Both directions along Mesa under the I-10 Overpass in west El Paso will close down Sunday from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. Wright said this closure could be lifted sooner.
The North Mesa Entrance Ramp, which is near Village Inn restaurant along South Desert Boulevard and allows driver to head east on I-10, will be closed Sunday from 3 a.m. until to 6 a.m.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down in that area, as crews are on site working on the Go10 project.
Motorists will be directed to exit at North Mesa Street (SH 20), head to Doniphan Drive, take Doniphan Drive to Sunland Park Drive, then reenter I-10 East at the Sunland Park Entrance Ramp.
Wrights said that if weather does not allow crews to work on the project this weekend, then it will moved up to next weekend.
